↳ challenge: how can we reconcile the viral popularity of Spotify Wrapped, a campaign openly built on user data, with growing criticism of data collection by corporations?
↳ insight: music taste is foundational to youth identity-building; Spotify Wrapped's reliance on user data ("science stuff") provides Gen Z with seemingly objective evidence to validate their desired or perceived identities, as opposed to seemingly subjective alternatives (such as curating a public playlist or posting a song to their Instagram story).
